Install WhoseDev
Download the editor
Section titled “Download the editor”Go to WhoseDev downloads and choose the installer for your operating system. The downloads page is the source of truth for currently supported platforms and release builds.
Run the downloaded installer, then open WhoseDev from your applications menu.
Open a project
Section titled “Open a project”On the Welcome page, select Open Folder and choose the root folder of a project. WhoseDev opens that folder as your workspace.
Tip: Use the project root rather than an individual source file. This lets search, source control, terminals, extensions, and AI context work across the project.
Sign in when you need managed AI
Section titled “Sign in when you need managed AI”You can use the editor without signing in. Sign in when you want to use WhoseDev-managed AI models and your account’s available quota.
- Open the Command Palette with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows/Linux or Cmd+Shift+P on macOS.
- Run WhoseDev: Sign In.
- Finish the browser sign-in flow, then return to the editor.
If you prefer not to use managed AI, you can use a direct provider connection or a local Ollama model instead. See choose a model route.
