Find and manage extensions

WhoseDev uses Open VSX as its default extension gallery. Open the Extensions view from the Activity Bar to search, install, update, disable, or uninstall extensions.

Install an extension

1. Open Extensions from the Activity Bar.
2. Search for the language, formatter, linter, or tool you need.
3. Open the extension’s details and select Install.
4. Reload the editor if the extension asks you to.

Install a VSIX file

If your team distributes an extension outside the gallery, use the Command Palette and run Extensions: Install from VSIX. Choose only packages from a source you trust.

Keep your workspace predictable

• Review an extension’s publisher, permissions, and documentation before installing it.
• Disable extensions you do not need in the current workspace.
• Use workspace recommendations to help teammates use the same project tools.

Note: Extension availability and compatibility are determined by the publisher and the extension’s declared editor-engine support.
